For the last few days you might have noticed that girls on social media are posting their monochromes with a hashtag #challengeaccepted. Though all are looking stunning in their own ways although it has a very deep meaning behind this challenge. Many of you might even don’t know the backdrop of the challenge behind these photos.
The idea of feminism is strong and it encourages the ideology of women empowerment, women equality and women safety in the society. However, there are very few places where these things are in practice especially in Islamic countries. Some countries believe even today that women belong to household and only could be a good housemaker. If they practice any other occupation besides this, they should be punished. The same punishment is that black and white photo.
In Turkey, every morning you see a monochrome photograph of a woman in newspapers or on social media who was been killed just for being a girl or a woman. In the country, the crime against women have significantly increased which has outraged the women. The man dominant countries where women are mercilessly killed just for being a WOMAN and I believe nothing could be worse than this.
Living in 21st century and the treatment towards women is just pathetic and no vaccine could heal this wound until and unless a voice is raised against it. This has been raised in the form of a challenge where women are challenging others just to display that strength lies when we are together. The black and white posts are denouncement against the assassins of those girls.
The posts can also been seen in the way where the crime against the people based on a particular race. We all are aware of the tragic violence in America due to the death of a black man in police custody. This has raised many questions on the President Trump where his reaction towards the incident was considered inhumane and insensitive. This year, when US will have Presidential elections the outrage among the people is definitely going to harm the Trump’s results.
The monochrome images empower the women around the world who feel themselves suppressed and suffocated in the hands of men.
