Terrorists activities decreased in Jammu and Kashmir since revocation of Article 370

The security situation has improved a lot since the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. While there has been a significant decrease in terrorist incidents compared to last year, there is a significant decrease in the incidents of stone pelting that occur on the day.

According to a report by security agencies, only 40 stone pelting incidents have been reported from January to June this year as compared to last year whereas in the year 2019, a total of 666 stones were fired against the security forces whereas in 2018, around 851 such cases were reported. There has also been a significant decrease in the cases of Kashmiri youths joining militant groups. From January to June this year, a total of 68 youths have reported to join the terrorist organization, whereas last year the number was close to 120.

According to the report of security agencies, a total of 141 terrorists have been wiped out from January to 27 this year, out of which 57 Hizbul terrorists are the highest, while 151 terrorists were killed last year, of which 46 were Hizbul terrorists.

It is a matter of concern that South Kashmir remains a stronghold of terrorists. Of the 141 terrorists killed this year, the most are 36 terrorists in Shopian, followed by 37 in Pulwama and 21 in Kulgam, while 43 were killed in Pulwama, 39 in Shopian and 15 in Anantnag last year.
In this one year, the security forces got Hizbul Mujahideen commander Riya Naiku, Lashkar commander Haider, Jaish commander Qari Yasir and Ansar Gajwat-ul-Hind’s Burhan Koka were also killed. Apart from this, 22 terrorists and about 300 of their helpers were arrested.

In this one year, 22 terrorist targets were detected and about 190 weapons were captured, mostly AK-47.

Not only this, there has been a 40% decrease in the involvement of local youth in terrorist organizations, this year only 68 youths were tricked and sent on the path of terror. At the same time, the Hurriyat Conference which promoted terrorism and violence also suffered a blow this year when its leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani distanced himself from the Hurriyat Conference.
